During my stay there I potentially could have attended 3 cosplay events! Animania Melbourne and Brisbane Supanova were happening on the same weekend, and Melbourne Supanova was the week after. Unfortunately I am unable to clone myself into two, so I could only attend Brisnova for the first week, and well, flight plans won’t allow me to attend Melnova.

So the first thing you will notice about Supanova is… Its not a 100% anime event! Haha! Supanova is a pop culture event, where everything goes! (Kinda >.<) The western comics, sci-fi cultures are also very well represented, and I may say, the cosplays are really well done! There are also celebrities’ meet-ups!

So yeah, check this out, just outside the event hall (RNA Showgrounds):

This is the pre-reg line! Imagine if you buy at the door. GG! I heard that almost 20,000 people turned up for the event! WOW!

And look at the people!

Yes! TONS of people! More people than cosplayers! I can’t remember an event  in Singapore where I see more people than cosplayers!

Another worthy note is that the photographers won’t crowd around you and spam you with their flashlights! Everyone is really polite and ask you for photos.

I was cosing a rather errr, unknown character? No.2 assassin (Bad Girl) from No more Heroes. It’s a really epic game on the Wii! GO PLAY IT IF YOU HAVE NOT!!!

Watched the Madman Nationals Brisbane round (think cosplay competition of the whole Australia, where the winners for all the interstate rounds gather at the end to compete for the top prize at the end XD)  as well, and totally love Will’s performance! Its full of LOL! I love how crack Will can be!

And LOOK AT THAT SHIVA BIKE AND DROOL PEOPLE! Will came in 2^nd that day~

Tsubaki (WCS Australia 2009 rept) was in the competition as well, and she is freaking epic! Look at that awesome gown she did! She even have wings that she can draw up and its hidden in the dress! Epic construction!  Tsubaki came in 3^rd that day

So, with Will and Tsubaki being placed 2^nd and 3^rd, who could be the one that top them and move on to the next round of Madman nationals?

Its SHONA!

Shona did an amazing Fray from Tsubasa Chronicle. Not only can her staff light up, she did this great costume change from one outfit to another! Truly deserving winner! Can’t wait to see what she will pull out for the finals XD

And after which is the Supanova cosplay competition, where you register, go on stage, and do whatever you can! John the MC is a really great MC that keeps the crowd going, and whoever the guy in the control room is, I love him! I love his sense of humor  and his sacram! Makes the whole event damn fun!

I actually joined the competition, to get a feel of how Australia competition is like. Was group 50 in 63 teams! *OTL* We spent almost 2 hours waiting downstairs for our turn to go on stage!

Spent day 2 as Sheryl Nome (yes! Sheryl Love!) with Minh as Alto. Kenny (WCS Australia organizer XD) came as Ozma and Shona was Alto too!!! So much MF love! We spent most of our time watching the event, laughing at the skits, and just chilling out. Very different from Singapore event, as in Singapore we will be posing for ¾ of the time, and the remaining ¼ for us to hide and rest. Events in Australia is really a chill and hang feel, very relaxing.

Cosplayers in Aussie are often good photographers as well. Like Will, who took some time to take a few shots for us at the event.

Went off with Rei(she’s studying in Aussie too!) for a short shoot around the event as well. She amazingly talented and got me so many great shots!

After which I went for another shoot with Floatyman, a wonderful photographer in Aussie. Thank you so much for shooting for us! These are great! And he is so easy to work with.

And, check this out, AFTER EVENT PARTY! 0.0 So cool right! But since its not part of the official event or really cosplay related so NO PHOTOS XD Its just a very cool way to end the event, chilling out at someone’s house, talking about the event  and making crack in general XD So enjoyable!

And then, my fave part about cosplaying in Aussie, is getting the great Aly and K to shoot and direct part 2 of my Sheryl x Alto Stardate shoot!

Aly herself is a great  Aly, and I say one of the best Alto around. K  is a person with multiple talent, who dishes out surprises after surprised of wonderful work you just drool over and faint! Together, I can’t ask for a better director and photographer!

Overall, I had such a fun time cosplaying in Aussie! The only sad thing is that I went to Brisbane when the weather was relativitly similar to Singapore, just not as humid. I will love to try cosplaying in cool weather! BRING OUT THE GOWNS AND NOT SWEAT! XD

IS BEHIND SCHEDULE! I do not know how this happen! I got the perfect timetable plan out! It should be done by YESTERDAY! Now I still need to do final touch up for the sleeves, FREAKING 22 SMALL CLOTH COVER BUTTONS WHICH I AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO, the strip detailing, the obi/slash thingy (finish the bow at the back, hohoho), the leg ruffles, and buy shoes XD Got the pair of gloves I want, and is mailing it to Skye’s address cos I am scare it won’t reach Singapore on time.

Australia trip

IS COMING UP IN 11 DAYS! I CAN’T WAIT! *cross out dates on calendar*Its gonna be soooo epic! I can feel the epicness already! Can’t wait for see all the wonderful peeps in Aus! AND MY FIRST AUS CON! WHOOOO! Who’s coming for Brisnova?! So many things I wanna do! *jumps around in happiness*

WCS Singapore

Errr, Jing and I are taking part in WCS Singapore this year *for Korea trip!!!!!*

Kind of excited, yet scare at the same time. I still can’t believe we sign up for it. It wasn’t until the briefing session yesterday that it finally struck me: We are joining WCS.

It was kind of an on impulse thing, cos of the Korea trip. Now, it suddenly feel so serious… I hope I don’t screw up! Jing has been very supportive and working very hard for this, so I really can’t disappoint the girl XD

Have to go work on the audio track tonight… And then continue with the detailing on my costume, and PRACTISE! OMG!!

Fingers are seriously crossed… Well, selection round is this Saturday, at West Coast Plaza! *Got shuttler bus from Clementi MRT* We are team #5 to go up! Please come support! <3

Throughout these years, there has been joys, tears, drama, friendship born and destroyed. Memories made to cherish, and things we wish to forget. I have to admit I’ve never though I will last this long. Since I am never one to keep a hobby for long, when I first started I expected myself to stop cosplaying in about 2 years? After two years I was still going strong, so I though, well, 5 then, or when I start working, because a lot of people just stop when they start working. Making a living will become more important, no? Three years into the work force, and I can say my cosplay has grown stronger since now I am stronger financially and able to support this hobby to the maximum. It was after this mark that I realized: I will never stop cosplaying. As long as I can, I will continue to cosplay.

I have always wondered what is my passion in life, for someone like me who lives by the day, and blends into everything, what is the one thing that is strongly me, truly me? Some people have their music; some have their sports, some pour themselves into their careers and studies. I guess my answer has always been in front of me. It is cosplay. The thing I had dedicated my youth to, is dedicating my working life to, the thing that keeps me moving, no matter what. Try controlling me all you want, I may give in to you, but do not touch my cosplay. This is one item I will never let anyone control. This is me.

Cosplay had really brought me a long way, and people who are important to me are all met through this hobby. I am even traveling because of this hobby! XD Never expected cosplay to bring me this much experiences when I first started. Now, I really wonder, where will it bring me next?

The last 2 week of Feb nearly killed me! 5 shoot in a spam of 2 weeks! And of the 5, 3 were on the same day!

Many much love to Nevar, for she is involved in all 5 of my shoots, and she has so many more others to do! Thank you Kaasan for coming for all of them! <3

So yar, besides Magnet selfcest that was Luki x Luka (Posting on sgcafe now, go see XD), there was a Kamen Rider Kiva shoot with KY, Elmo, Sean, Kie and Ariki, and the 3 horrible shoots in one day!

It was like, Morning: Shoot Pricilla (Claymore), then change to Selena (Gundam Starglazer), then change to Wang Liu Mei (the super delayed Gundam 00 shoot with Ariki, Zeph, Jing, Skye, and Inu. Love to the photographers who came along too! Like Nevar, Garion, Zera, Blur, Ashteyz, Windy, etc.. DID I MISS OUT ANY?!) And we went to celebrate Skye’s birthday in advance too! *dies* I couldn’t feel my leg after that day! Need to slack at home on Sunday to fully recover.

And now, after the first week of March has passed us by, I am STILL working on cosplay stuff! Spent my whole week drafting my Bad Girl costume! Only break was on Saturday, when I need to go BUY materials to make the cos, and enjoy delicious chocolate from Maz Brenners! I love the chocolate there! I think it’s REALLY good! I have no idea how the Australia one is gonna top this! If it does, I will never look at chocolate the same ever again! It was soooo good! Had a Eighties Shake in the Alice cup (I want to buy one home!) and a Chocolate fudge cake (OMG THE LITTLE FLASK THAT CAME WITH IT <3) Went drinking too that night, and had my White Russian. Love that drink. Was one of my first cocktails and till now nothing makes me happier than having a glass of White Russian in my hands!

And Sunday was sewing day. From the moment I woke up till late at night, I was sewing! The only break I had was dinner + bath and a short period in between to post the Magnet shoot on sgcafe, and random one-liner chit chats here and thereon msn (I FINALLY FIXED MY MSN LIVE! Feels connected to the world again!) Skye was smart enough to skype me so she got most of my attention, haha.

Oh, and yes, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DEAREST EMPRESS! <3 Decoy will be coming to you soon!

Its only Feb, but the shoot is soo good I can’t stop fangirling Nevar for it.

Oh my God! My 4 days long weekend is gone just like that! I woke up this morning feeling shitty, tired, and not well rested at all! Gaarrrhh! Been spending the holidays wrongly!

I came to a conclusion that to enjoy a 4 days holiday, you should do this

Slack –> Go out and have fun x2 days –> Slack

Instead what I did was

Clean the house *aka ½ work ½ slack* –> Visiting *as good as work >.< –> Slack –> Shoot*aka have fun*

SEE THE IMBALANCE?! GARRRHH~

So yeah, I shot Luka x Luki with Empress Skye yesterday and the shoot was like epic awesome! Its also the first time Skye and me are cosing couple. We normally do Empress/Decoy/friends/twin characters.

And I am glad to say that under Nevar’s guidance, we have upgraded from Ikan Billis to Prawn. Yeah! Way to go us!

And many many love and thanks to Ash for helping us transform my messy, OMFG room into a lovely shoot location! Epic Black cloth + bling bling costume as bedspread makes epic sexy bed! Gaaahh~ Still can’t believe that we were shooting in my messy room, on my bed! It DOESN’T LOOK LIKE IT AT ALL!!!

I seriously can’t wait for Kaasan to finish processing the photos and passing it to us! So high! So excited!

Well, another 2 more shoot this weekend. OMG I don’t think I can rest at all till March.. Wait… oh shit, need to make Brisnova costume.. Shit! I am gonna end up rushing it out within a month again! Ahhh!!

I love SOY! Its always so crack and unpredictable! It really does have a ‘for the fans, by the fans’ feeling, which most commercial events now lack. I was a little worry at first cos the SOY comm. Manage to get big names like Shiseido to come in, but feel so much at ease once the event started.

Was rushing costume all the way until the start of the event! I finish all my sewing on Friday (had to appear offline on both MSN and SKYPE so I will work on costume and not talk to anyone. AH MY LIFE!) Had to complete the costume at the event itself as the head piece and waist chain can only be measured when I am wearing the wig/ costume. Much much love to Jing Jing for saikanging for me the whole day! *Hugs*I will never made it to the stage on time without you! Thank you soo much for being there and I LOVE YOUUUU!

Was so nervous at the competition that I was so sure I screwed up and will walk away empty handed (MY KINO VOUCHER!!!!!! AHHHH!!) So I was a little shocked that I did get 2nd at the end (CONGRATS TO DREFAN FOR GETTING FIRST!) Dusty and Lenne are soo cute as Tamaki and Haruhi! I love the chemistry they have! Its just fun to be on stage with both of them <3

After which went to meet up with Inu + gang for our Sandplay of the Dragon shoot! Sorry team I wasn’t around most of the time >.< I really had fun cosplaying with you guys! XD Looking forward to the shoot!

Okay, I guess that is it XD February is going to be busy for me too, I got 3 shoots going on during the CNY week! OMFG! GONNA DIE! And I have to start work on my Brisnova costume… Sheryl is like done, but need to work on day 1. May not be doing Momohime… because I am now in love with No more heroes XD OMG! Time really flies! Are you ready for the Tofuuuuuuuu?

I know I am NOT! whahaha, I actually screwed up on my costume! My skirt is suppose to be a 5 layer full circle skirt, fully lined with Tulle netting, but I accidentally used one of the panels to make my gloves! TOTALLY WIN RIGHT?! 0.0 Must be half asleep when I did that( or, I suspect, cos I was talking on the phone, GG!)

But anyway, manage to save it somewhat. Cos my skirt isn’t suppose to be a round skirt anyway, so used a new method to redesign it! The new method is actually easier, and the effect came out better and more accurate to the reference. This skirt is either gonna be OMG epic or OMFG BBQ YOU COSFUUUU. Pray mannn

Need to finish the last layer of the skirt, and make the blings on my costume! Also need to grab my wig to style and bling as well.

I notice I tend to overbling my gowns.. good or bad? whahaha~ I can’t help it! Its a post- TB symptom. Everything that CAN be bling WILL be bling. If it can’t, well, we’ll make it bling XD

Also need to be editing photos to post on dA. I got my Magnet shoot with Jing in CF, and the Pandora Heart Shoot with the great Aussie to edit! And also the ToshiieXMatsu one I had with Minh before he went home. GAAAHHH

Also have Diamond Crevasse shoot coming up (Like, finalllyyyy)

Maybe reshooting Magnet Luka too with Inuran, my original Miku. Inu you want to shoot? ^_^

Also need to start work on my April costume right after SOYB! Doing Momohime from Oboro Murasame at Brisnova. (HIYU MAKE SURE YOU DUN RUSH THIS ONE OUT LAST MINUTE AGAIN! WORK ON IT RIGHT AFTER SOYB! YOU GOT NO DANIEL TO HELP YOU WITH ARMOR THIS TIME! GAHH)

Really looking forward to the Australia trip this April, I can’t wait! 2010 is such an exciting year!

Finish most of my costume already! Just waiting for Xiaocat darling to pass me my Cosmos accessories and need to go Chinatown later in the day to grab extra material for Matsu, and I am done! Yes! Sharon is 100% done!

Went to the airport yesterday to pick up Minh, and finally get to meet Aly and K! The Aussie cosers are all sooo hyper and fun! They totally bring the energy level of the group up! *jumps ard* Must be genki to catch up with their extremeeeeee genkinessssss!!

After pulling like 4 nights of SUPER EARLY LIKE 3AM ISH nights, I am happy to say it was all worth it. I had to work on Monday and Tuesday, but wasn’t so bad, is not THAT zombified when I went in. And now, I am on leave alllllll the way till Jan 4! <3 So I went to bed at 4ish and 5 ish on the first 2 nights of my leave.

Need to go get more material. Feeling lazy but must doooo!!!

So, anyway, will be in Malaysia from 18th-23rd. Hope I can bring lots of CF pics back!
